Cell Phones and Infertility

Hello Mommies and Daddies. Thank you for reading with me today! As you know, I created happyhealthychildren.org to help parents throw off today’s toxic modern culture and get back to the basics of raising happy, healthy children. Today I want to talk with you about cell phones and infertility.

The causes of infertility are vast, ranging from problems with anatomy to chemical imbalances.  Historically, infertility has more often been caused by problems with the female partner. However, over the past several decades, male infertility is increasing due, in part, to falling sperm counts.

What are the reasons for these decreases in male sperm count?

There are a number of reasons for decreasing sperm counts, most of which are related to environmental toxins.  One prominent and easily reversible cause of decreased sperm counts is that male reproductive organs are being exposed to high levels of radiation from our cell phones. Namely, males are keeping their cell phones in their pants’ pockets, where they are in close proximity to their reproductive organs. Or, if the phone is not actually in the man’s pocket, it is very close by.

Scientific evidence linking cell phones and infertility

Let’s take a look at the scientific evidence linking cell phones and infertility. In this first study, the authors looked at the effects of cell phone radiation on the sperm of men undergoing treatment at an infertility clinic. What they found was that the use of cell phones decreased the sperms’ count, motility, viability and morphology, all four of these traits being necessary to fertilize an egg.

And all of these effects were time dependent. In other words, the longer the sperm were exposed to cell phone radiation, the poorer the quality and less likely they were to be able to fertilize an egg.

What about the effect of radiation on healthy sperm?

Now let us take a look at another study that looked at the effects of cell phone radiation on healthy sperm.  In this study, the authors exposed half of healthy sperm samples to one hour of cell phone radiation and left the other half unexposed to radiation to act as a control group.

What they found was that the sperm exposed to the radiation had significantly decreased mobility and viability, increased reactive oxygen species and decreased total antioxidant capacity relative to the sperm that was in the nonexposed control group.  All four of these findings once again contribute to the inability of males to impregnate females.

Taking action to help our loved ones

While the subject of infertility is such a complex and emotionally charged issue, people need to realize that we have an ever-increasing problem with infertility in our nation. The good news is that some of the causes of infertility can be dealt with using simple, but effective, techniques.

Both of these studies, one in males who are already struggling with infertility and the other in healthy males, show us that cell phone radiation effects the quality and the quantity of male sperm. Let’s get this fixed.

Whether it is encouraging our loved ones to keep their cell phones as far away from their bodies as possible or encouraging people to drink clean water that is not full of hormone-altering chemicals, we can do this.
